Islamic Provisions of the Constitution of 1956:

1. According to the Constitution, the name of the country was adopted as the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
2. It was declared that the President of the country shall be Muslim.
3. The Muslims shall be enabled to order their lives in the individual and collective spheres by the teachings and requirements of Islam.
4. No law would be passed or promulgated against the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah.
5. Usury, sale of alcohol and narcotics and prostitution shall be banned and were prohibited.
6. Pakistan shall be made a welfare state.
