Smuggling

Smuggling is the clandestine transportation of goods or persons, such as out of a building, into a prison, or across an international border, in violation of applicable laws or other regulations.

There are various motivations to struggle. Those include participation in illegal trade, such as in the drug trade, illegal immigration or illegal emigration, tax evasion, providing contraband to prison inmates, or the theft of the items being smuggled. Examples of non-financial motivators include bringing banned items past a security checkpoint (such as airline security) or the removal of classified documents from a government or corporate office.

The high rates of duty levied on tea and wine and spirits, and other luxury goods coming in from mainland Europe at this time made the clandestine import of such goods and the evasion of the duty a highly profitable venture for improvised fishermen and seafarers. In certain parts of the country the smuggling, the industry was for many communities more economically significant than legal activities such as farming and fishing.

Sometimes, a thing is available at a low cost in one country and its price is higher in another country. The smugglers carry this thing to the country where the price is higher. It causes a huge loss to the economy of both countries.

Smuggling is a crime against society and smugglers are the worst enemies of society. Through strict laws and punishment, this evil can be eradicated from society.
