Transitive verb: A verb that needs an object to complete the sense
Transitive verbs take a direct object e.g.
They build a house
We defeated the enemy
I gave my son a pen
Hamid wrote you a letter
He reads a book
They play football
Intransitive Verb: A verb that does not need an object to complete the sense. Intransitive verbs do not require any object:
Stand on the bench
We go to school daily
Water freezes in winter
The bell rings
He sleeps
They laugh
Some verbs are used transitively as well as
Intransitively e.g:
The cook has boiled this egg transitive
The water boils intransitive
We fly kites in the air transitive
Birds fly intransitive
Auxiliary Verbs help to form different tenses
I have done it
They will teach you a lesson
She is swimming
Do they know you?
Have they finished their work?
I shall read it
They might go
The auxiliary verbs are given below
This auxiliary takes Present is, am, are, was, were or Past Participle after being, has have, had them:
“playing” or “played” does, do, did, may, might. These always take shall, should the first form of will, would the verb after them, can, could
